Today a Hawk that lives next to my home swooped down and clipped my head. I have children. What do I do Help?

This hawk has a nest in a tree next to my driveway. I do not have a bird feeder or any reason for it to lerk here. I am afraid for the safety of my kids, and myself. I can't do yard work and my kids can't play in the yard. How can I get rid of it?

  1. I would call animal control and see what can be legally done. There might be some legal issues. I would definitely do something, though, for your kids. They can also take off with small dogs and cats.
  2. The young birds will be gone soon. The bird is only protecting its nest and young, just like you are. Be patient. He will not hurt you, he is trying to intimidate you. The stories about hawks taking dogs and cats is a legend. They are too heavy for the birds. (an eagle might do this) They prefer small rat, mice, birds. Don't let people with wild stories scare you.
  3. Shoot it!!! j/K (unless you are completely up for that, then go ahead) Try calling animal control and they should be of more help. We have hawk problems down where we live and thats because we have small animals around.
  4. You are being silly. It is probably just getting use to seeing you and wanted to make its presence known. I have a hawk in our yard and I have named her Dora. She is precious. Dont teach your children to be afraid like that of a beautiful bird from the wild. It is a once in a lifetime experience for most people to see wildlife this close. It will be gone soon enough. Please, if you have to call the local State Wildlife officers in your area to let them know if you have to. It probably has a nest it is trying to protect just like you are trying to protect your children.
  5. Keep the kids inside until she's done rearing her young. After she's gone, then get rid of the nest so she may not use it next time. There is probably a law against killing the bird.
  6. get a bb gun , those hawks eat the sparrows i feed
  7. A hawk wouldnt eat out of a bird feeder, they eat live prey. And I doubt it will happen again, hawks are not aggressive towards people.
  8. scream and throw rocks at it
  9. The hawk's behavior is very common for a bird trying to get people away from the chicks. The behavior will stop once the birds fledge. Until then, you may as well accept that you need to stay out of the way of the bird nest.
  10. call 911
  11. shoot em up dude
