What are the requirements for a faux hawk?

My hair has grown too long to restyle it, and I forgot how I need to tell the stylist to cut it. I cut my hair into a permanent faux hawk, with the sides shorter than the top. What guard do I use for the sides? Thanks in advance. And I don't care if you think a faux hawk is gay or not, cause I like it. So if that is all you have to say, take it somewhere else.
